"Our Story"

Picnic at Cullen began in 2018 with a simple idea. From our little ice cream shop at Cullen Bay, we thought visitors might enjoy taking a grazing box down to the lawns to watch the spectacular sunsets. From that small idea, a business was born.

We are sisters, Kerri and Trudi. After moving from Queensland ten years ago, Cullen Bay became our home. When COVID arrived, it completely changed the direction of our little business. While much of Australia faced restrictions, the Northern Territory experienced periods of freedom, allowing us to help people celebrate again through birthdays, proposals, and weddings in our function Centre.  Unfortunately this was sold and we were unable to source a venue with the spectacular view you all LOVED..

Today, Picnic at Cullen has evolved again. We successfully brought our operations together under one roof, with our new venture "Cheekies Party Bike" in a shopfront with a commercial kitchen allowing us to create sunset picnics and sunset functions in the dry season and catering for all types of events, year-round.

We believe some of life's best moments are surprisingly simple: great food, good company, a picnic rug, and a Territory sunset. Looking back, the challenges we faced taught us to adapt and never become too attached to what we thought our business was supposed to be. We are incredibly proud to call Darwin home.
